An invitation from the club President...

Why Toastmasters?

It is difficult to predict when the opportunity to advance your career will strike. How many times have you passed up the opportunity to speak in public knowing full well this was your "big chance"?

By locating the Toastmasters organization, you have made the first step in the right direction towards becoming a great speaker.  Congratulations! Just like any other skill, speaking is a learned skill and you must teach yourself.  We are not born great speakers. Any great speaker you have heard has experience.  Tim Allen (comedian) and James Brady (two term press secretary under Reagan) are both Toastmasters (see other famous Toastmasters on Toastmasters.org).

If you want to become a better speaker for a few dollars per month, choose Toastmasters.  Seminars and professional training events will cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to attend.  I would also encourage you to find out if your employer contributes towards dues.  Believe it or not, many corporations actively and financially endorse Toastmasters.  The bottom line is that Toastmasters is the simplest, most cost effective way to become an energetic speaker and to learn to deliver your message confidently and effectively to any audience.

So start the week off right and drop by for a meeting, or send me an e-mail at president@pssthouston.org if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Paul Bukowski, Club President
